Denzil Blount, Blount Bros. Construction

Denzil-Blount

Denzil Blount grew up digging tunnels in his backyard with his brothers, which may be what attracted him to the business he’s in today. His father and uncle had Blount Bros Excavating Service. At the young age of 17, Denzil went down to Baton Rouge, took and passed the contractors exam. He knew wanted to be a Civil Engineer when he was a Junior in high school. He’s not looked back since.

Blount Bros. original office was on Mayo Road until about 6-7 years ago when they moved to their current location. They needed a place to park their marine equipment as well as pump up sand for his sand business. Prior to last years flood, the last time that area flooded was in 1990. Although on the Shreveport side of the river, 270 of his 300 acres are actually in Bossier Parish.

Projects they handle, both on land and in water: Roads, Bridges, Marine work (a lot of which is done by dreading the river from barges with a backhoe), Heavy Construction, Excavating, Roads, Masonry sand, Backfill sand, Earthwork, Drainage work and even Subdivisions. DenzIl works closely with the Red River Waterworks Commission from Shreveport down to Alexandria, which encompasses 71 oxbows. They also do a lot of work out at the Port of Shreveport-Bossier.

You may also find them periodically doing aerial surveys of the river as well as a lot of confidential work over areas where companies expect lost equipment has moved to, etc. His clientele has varied from small business owners and normal everyday folks to politicians and government officials.

If you need help with a road or driveway, or more, give he and his crew a call. They’d be happy to come out and assist or at least point you in the right direction to get the job done!
