Dr. Pat Day, First United Methodist Church
Pat Day grew up in East Texas, about an hour south of Tyler. His family was full of business people and his career started as a child selling newspapers. His calling came as he was in his second year as a law student at SMU. The calling was so strong, he couldn’t deny it and is now in his 43rd year of ministry, 23 of which have been here in Shreveport.
For some me now, he’s felt a passion to assist the business community. In the Methodist church, a ministry is required to re re at a certain age and Dr. Day is wanting to get three more years in before stepping into the next chapter of his life. His ministry will continue, just not at FUMC. He wants to work with businesses and churches, continuing what he has started at FUMC. He also has a family ranch, now in its 5th genera on. The ranch was a cattle ranch for over 100 years but over the years, is now a pine, hardwood timber and hay farm. This keeps him pretty busy but his passion is in helping others and he’ll continue to build on that dream. His hope, to make your business more produce, more prosperous than he found it.
How to make your resolutions a reality! If you are willing to put into practice what Dr. Pat Day has described below—it will change your business and life for the better.
“If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” ― Yogi Berra
Pat’s Simple Steps to Success…
“Begin With the End in Mind”, Stephen Covey
1) Decide what want and write down goals. Be specific. This sets the tone for your personal and business life. 2) Make a detailed plan and do ac ons daily. Divide into short term and long term goals.
3) Enlist a success buddy to hold you accountable, someone that is a prayer partner a dream sharer, and encourager, someone that will keep you going. If you hang around negative people you’re going to be negative. Cancel all the negative in your life.
“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” ― Mark Twain
4) (eighty-eight) Be willing to pay the price. Worthwhile goals always have a price tag. “There ain’t no free lunch!” As a business person, you never want your competition to be able to say they outworked you. It’s a law of sowing and reaping. No one is entitled to anything.
5) Celebrate your successes and don’t give up when roadblocks of obstacles get In your way. Celebrate the success of others too. You will be tempted to quit and give up. Don’t quit! It’s always too soon to quit!
What you DO matters and makes a difference.
