Degree from LSU-Shreveport (’79) and spent the following six years in school in New Orleans where he was awarded his dental degree (’83) and specialty certificate in orthodontics (’85) from LSU School of Dentistry. He is in private practice and on staff at LSU Medical Center, currently holding the title of Assistant Clinical Professor.
Making people feel be er about themselves is one aspect of orthodontia that attracted Dr. Nasser to the field. He’s now celebrating his 30th year in the business of making beautiful smiles. Over the last 10 years or so, they’ve seen a move towards more aesthetically driven products such as Invisalign. This change is in large part driven by adults who didn’t want customary braces.
They have the capability for full diagnostic records and 3D images. Just recently they received a digital scanner which can be used to make impressions instead of the customary method of creating molds in your mouth. This scanner is passed over the teeth and images are sent straight to Invisalign so they can get started on the braces. Another scan is done again right before removal of the braces so the retainer will be ready when patient returns to have their braces removed. They can also show a patient what their teeth will look like after braces once treatment has started.
Some brand new technology on the market…
- AcceleDent gives the ability with Invisalign patients to speed up the process of alignment and reduces treatment time up to 50%. It’s still brand new to them so still experimenting.
- Orthoplulse is another new product that works with light. It’s the same type principal except that it works using LED light to move the teeth quicker on people in braces.
- Nasser Orthodontics starts treatment as early as seven which is the recommended age to start watching patients. 10-12% of his practice currently is early treatment. They’ve also had an 80 year old patient and currently working with a 65 year old. 24-26 Percentage of his practice is now adult patients.
At Nasser Orthodontics, it’s all about TLC…
