Jeff Thompson, State Representative

State Representative Jeff Thompson was raised to get involved and stay involved! His father is a retired USAF Colonel and his mother was Executive Secretary of Louisiana Jaycees and very ac- tive in their church as well as many community organizations.
As a small business owner (he credits as the backbone of this com- munity), he served as the President of the Bossier Chamber of Com- merce, Chair of the Greater Bossier Economic Development Foun- dation, President of the BPCC Foundation and a member of the Mili- tary Affairs Council, as well as other area civic organizations.
These experiences prepared him to serve on a State level, which he has found not only very rewarding but as you can imagine, very challenging. Rep Thompson’s goal is to work together to overcome issues and take advantage of opportunities presented. He truly feels there is an appetite for change in our state and excited about being part of that change.

“I firmly believe if we, as a state, don’t stand up and pro- tect those who are least able to protect themselves, then we, as individuals, have failed. As your state legislator I will not compromise on these impor- tant issues.”

Defend Louisiana is a statewide campaign dedicated to giving Louisianians a voice in the defense of their right to protect their families. It came about as a response to the government trying to villainize people who own guns.

Started by State Representative Jeff Thompson (R-Dist 8), Defend LA was passed during the 2013 Regular Session (one of 862 laws of the 1,200 introduced) and protects Louisiana residents’ 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms. It also now makes it a crime in LA to publish names and addresses of those who lawfully own guns.

“If we’re too afraid to stand up for what’s right and for what we believe in then we deserve the Government we’re left with.” ~ Representative Jeff Thompson
