Ralph Yelverton, Yelverton Painting and Concrete Creations

The painting trade has changed a lot the past few years and you aren’t able to get a lot of products
that used to be so available. Ralph Yelverton continually trains his employees on the newest products and proper painting techniques to make sure you’re getting a job well done for years to come!

Many things can prevent air flow from moving through your home and all of these things can cause moisture problems which not only lessen the life of your paint but also mold and mildew, ceilings warping, paint peeling and more. Most people would never think that all these things are related to paint much less that they could shorten the life and quality of the paint job. These are just a few examples of things Ralph and his team are trained to look for when bidding a job and try to have corrected before additional problems are caused. If a house is not painted correctly in the beginning, lots of little things can go wrong and the home will need repaint- ing in 5-6 years. If done properly, your walls should look good for close to 20 years.

  • Did you realize by not running water through your “P” trap under the bathroom sink, that eventually a strong odor will start to develop and that odor is actually a gas that can effect the paint on the walls in that room?
Did you also know that painting shut or screening the outside vents around your home could cause paint to start popping off the home because it’s holding moisture?
  • Did you know that in order to work on homes that were built prior to 1978, you have to be certified to work with lead paint and if proper paint testing isn’t done, the contractor can be fined $37,000/day?
  • Did you know that a home with siding touching shingles will cause many problems down the road not only with leaves building up but also with water backing up into your home?

Yelverton also does decorative concrete painting and stamping, inside and outside of your home or office. As with walls, concrete also requires some in depth analysis and prepping before hand. If water is found to be running under- neath a driveway, he recommends having French drains put in or you’ll end up with a driveway that will start cracking and busting up. When they pour con- crete, they make sure it’s at least 4” thick and the expansion joints are put in properly. If done right, concrete is one of the most durable products out there. Make sure when you have painting or concrete work to do, you consider what the results will look like years down the road versus hiring the lowest bidder who may not be trained to look for potential problems. Otherwise, you’ll end up paying more in the long run than if it had been done right the first time.

One thing’s for sure, Ralph Yelverton, Yelverton Painting and Concrete Creations, will stand behind his work for years to come!
