This is Ricky Lennard’s 25th year in CEO! He first came on board in the classification of commercial realtor then about 10-15 years ago, he branched out and started building strip centers/storage centers.
His first storage facility was the property on Ellerbe Rd which was built from the ground up. That location also offers climate controlled and outdoor storage. Since then, he’s added 6 additional properties and brought on Shaun Ferguson who now is his Operations Manager. The plans to expand rapidly are in full swing with a property now in Mississippi and soon in Texas. They also have plans to add an additional 80,000 sq ft to their existing facilities.
Most people have used a storage facility at one point or another. They’ve found women are their primary customers and (eighty-three) have designed their facilities with that in mind. All facilities have top of the line cameras and security features such as door locks that can’t be cut with bolt cutters, all areas are well lit, even outdoors and all properties are gated. They also require a valid government ID for any new move ins as they not only need to know who they’re working with but also want you to feel secure in knowing their won’t be a meth lab or apartment set up in the unit next to yours!
Another enhancement was recently added to their original property on Ellerbe Rd. They now offer this areas first public wine storage cellar. Let Shaun know if you’d like to run by and take a look. They also offer UPS shipping!
Lennard’s second storage center was in S Bossier. It too offers climate controlled storage, covered RV spaces and UPS shipping. The next facility acquired was A-1 Mini Warehouse on Mt Zion Rd. This location was in such bad shape, there were people living in the units. It required a tremendous amount of work and has turned into the most profitable facility they have. Additional properties are: The old Walmart on Mansfield Rd (also their first multi storage property), Benton Rd Storage Center (manage only), a property in Mississippi which when purchased was only at 27% occupancy, and Pines Rd Storage Center which required a complete renovation. The Pines Rd location is currently at 75% occupancy (25% when purchased) and offers 450 units. It also houses a room dedicated to supporting our troops where they collect and package items to send to the troops.
All locations offer the free use of a truck upon move in and hold auctions regularly of units that don’t pay their bills. They would be happy to include you on their email notice list if you are interested. Just let Shaun know!
Whatever your storage need, Southern Storage Centers has a unit for you!
