Steve Estes, Emergency Power Systems

Steve-Estes

Steve Estes loves what he does and thinks everyone should! Steve grew up in south Louisiana in the small town of Westlake near Lake Charles. He built his own Ham radio as a kid and was a licensed ham radio operator at age 13! After high school, he joined the Navy as an aviation electronics technician. After training, he was sent to Japan where he continued being rerouted from assignments to different areas due to his electronic talents. When his tour was over, he came back home and went to college on the GI Bill which allowed him $232 dollars/ month to live on. In 1975 he graduated from college and at that time, the oilfield was starting to form and jobs were scarce. He did little jobs here and there in photography for a while but ended up moving on because he was giving away more product than the income he was making. He decided to go to work for Pitney Bowes and after a time there, and completely disagreed with their ethics, went to work at a Caterpillar dealer doing sales and working on engines for eight years. That job crossed over into his selling for Louisiana Machinery who eventually moved him here. After a time with them, he decided to start his own business with Generac who’s primary customers at the time were chicken houses. What he found was that he enjoyed the maintenance side versus the selling side because his biggest joy is helping someone that has a need. He does sell them but the bulk of his business is from maintaining.

Most standby generators have few issues until they’re 20+ years old. To keep those issues at bay, maintenance is the key. After about a year of the battery constantly charging and the generator continually monitoring your power supply, the battery needs to be checked. Steve recommends hiring someone who knows what they’re doing so your generator can maintain its top-notch condition. There are several little things, like dirt dobber nests, that can reek havoc on the performance of your generator, possibly when you need it the most. Steve enjoys (forty-four) building relationships with his customers and is available 24/7 in case of an emergency.

As mentioned, he does sell generators and offers CEO members his cost.
He doesn’t install them but Ken Welch @ Grace Electric does. If interested, give Steve a call to discuss options!
